From Thomas Jefferson to Mike Johnson: The Evolution, Practice, and Politics of Congressional Procedure:
Thank you to all the NCAPSA and APSA members who joined us in our discussion of Brian Alexander’s Jefferson’s Manual of Parliamentary Practice (2025) and Lauren C. Bell’s Transatlantic Majoritarianism: How Murder, Migration, and Modernity Transformed Nineteenth-Century Legislatures (2025), which separately and together offer new perspectives on the origins and evolution of procedures in the U.S. House of Representatives. The discussion focused on the novel arguments presented in each text and highlight features of Congress’s political and procedural past to illuminate and understand current trends.

NCAPSA-APSA Virtual Roundtable: Thank you to all the NCAPSA and APSA members who joined us on Tuesday, February 13th, for the NCAPSA-APSA Virtual Roundtable on "Political Scientists Beyond the Academy," featuring Drs. Colleen Shogan (National Archives and Records Administration), Natalie Jackson (GQR), Meghan McConaughey (APSA), and Beatriz Rey (POPVOX Foundation) moderated by NCAPSA Councilmember, Dr. J.D. Rackey (Bipartisan Policy Center).

NCAPSA Member Tour of the National Archives: Thank you to all the NCAPSA members and their guests who joined us on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 for a special Tour of the National Archives for NCAPSA members preceded by a meet-and-greet with the Deputy Director, William Bosanko, followed by a coffee social on-site at Charters Cafe.
NCAPSA Virtual Book Roundtable: Thank you to all who joined the National Capital Area Political Science Association for its Friday, April 19, 204 virtual roundtable discussion of “Bipartisanship and US Foreign Policy: Cooperation in a Polarized Age.” Moderated by NCAPSA Past President Lauren Bell (Randolph-Macon College) and featuring a welcome from NCAPSA President Katherine Robiadek (Xavier University), panelists discuss Jordan Tama’s (American University, NCAPSA President Emeritus) recent book. NCAPSA Member Tour of the Supreme court of the United States: Thank you to the NCAPSA members who joined our group on July 22nd, 2024, for a special NCAPSA member tour of the U.S. Supreme Court.
APSA-NCAPSA Workshop & 2024 Annual Business Meeting: The American Political Science Association (APSA) and The National Capital Area Political Science Association (NCAPSA) are pleased to have co-hosted for political scientists and practitioners the first successful single-day workshop held at the APSA’s Headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, October 5, 2024, followed by the NCAPSA Annual Business Meeting culminating in a celebratory reception.
